The usual starting point. A lakeside city with a compact old town, strong museums and day trips in every direction.
Zurich works as a base for two or three days before the mountains. We arrange the city with locals rather than tour buses: a morning in the old town with someone who lives there, a private boat on the lake, an evening in the Kreis 4 or Seefeld neighbourhoods. Day trips reach the Rhine Falls, Lucerne, the Appenzell hills and the Uetliberg ridge above the city.

How many nights in Zurich?
Two nights is enough for the city. Three if you add a day trip to the Rhine Falls or Lucerne.
Is Zurich good for families?
Yes. Lake boats, the zoo, the Uetliberg and a chocolate workshop fill two days easily.
Do we need a car?
No. In Zurich and for day trips the train is faster; we book a chauffeur where it saves time, for example to and from the airport with luggage.
